Materials

The Zen Office™ (Peace Bench™, Tilt Seat™, Sky Bench™) is built from a material called Medex.

Medex is an eco-friendly medium density fiberboard (MDF) made from 100% recycled wood. This high end beautiful material is non-toxic and Forest Stewardship Council Certified, with no added formaldehyde like the other MDF’s. It’s carbon footprint and embodied energy are far less than that of solid wood.

To that we add a non-toxic, whey-based finish called Vermont Natural Coatings Furniture Finish. This finish creates a pleasing synergy with the Medex to create a durable and natural looking end product.

We also mix in some ‘magic’ ingredients– EM™ Ceramic Powder and Amethyst gemstone powder. These rock dusts are embedded in the finish and provide benefits through their healing frequencies. These benefits include: relaxation on a cellular and vibrational level, discharging static electricity from the body, mitigating some of the effects of electrosmog pollution, and balancing the energy of the chakras.

EcoSquare™ floor table is made from regionally harvested poplar wood and coated with a non-toxic, whey-based finish called Vermont Natural Coatings Furniture Finish.

Accessories:

The optional strap-on cushion for the Tilt Seat™ or Peace Bench™ is constructed from organic cotton canvas and stuffed with chemical free kapok. Kapok is a sustainable rain forest crop from the down-like fluffy fiber of the kapok tree

The optional Yoga Pad cushion for the Peace Bench™ and Tilt Seat™ is made from eco friendly Manduka Yoga Mat. The eKO Lite Mat is made from sustainably harvested tree rubber. Unlike other rubber mats available today, the foaming agents used to create the eKO Lite are non-toxic. What this means is that no toxic chemicals have gone into the manufacturing process to soften rubber; when the eKO Lite mat is disposed of and biodegrades, it will not leave behind a toxic residue. Additionally, instead of using synthetic polyester for reinforcement, Manduka has chosen to use recycled silk and natural cotton.
